It was a dismal weekend of violence in Boston that ended with two dead, including a pregnant teenager.
-- 18-year-old expectant mother Paola Castillo was shot to death early Sunday morning at a house party in Hyde Park while celebrating her birthday. A group of about five party crashers, who had been kicked out of the house, created a ruckus outside the party. When Castillo, a Dorchester resident, told them to keep it down and leave, one of the men reportedly shot her. She died shortly thereafter. Boston police say that they have "promising leads" in the case. [Herald]
-- Four people were shot early Sunday morning in Dorchester, one fatally. Carl Hentz Belizaire, 21, of Dorchester, was shot to death during a house party. One witness said that he had been shot in the heart. Belizaire had just returned from Haiti, where he had gone to escape the streets of Boston. The three other victims, two men and a woman, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and have been hospitalized. Police believe that the victims were targeted. [Herald, BPDNews]
-- Four men found themselves hospitalized after a 20-person melee in Dorchester turned into a machete massacre. The victims are all expected to survive their injuries, and the suspect got away. [Herald]
