Jay Leno got his inner Hubness on last night on his self-named show with Jennifer Garner and Barney Frank. Garner was on plugging her new film with Ricky Gervais, The Invention of Lying. Frank was on being, well, himself.
Garner walked out at about 18:00 into the clip. This Bostonist isn't a huge Garner fan, but she looked good to us last night. The Garner-Affleck clan is currently based in the Bay State as Ben films, In Town. She babbled about schools and kid stuff for almost an entire segment before getting to the film.
Leno's new thing is making stars work to earn the right to have their clips shown. Like he wouldn't show a movie clip if they refused to embarrass themselves, right? Jay brings up Ben's affinity for the Red Sox at around the 25:40 mark and tells Jen she has to name the Sox starting lineup to earn her clip. He asked her to do it while wearing a Yankees hat and holding a Derek Jeter picture. She put the hat on backwards to hide the logo and held the Jeter picture away from herself. Aside from confusing Gonzalez with Martinez, she did okay.
At 30:00, Leno rolled out his Ten@Ten segment for Barney Frank who was "live" from the Capitol. A few highlights:
- Frank surprisingly named the Sopranos as his favorite show.
- The irony of Barney Frank telling a Henny Youngman wife joke.
- He correctly named the last 10 Presidents in the proper order.
- An always popular joke linking Rush Limbaugh and painkillers.
- Frank admitted to skinny dipping with his boyfriend. He said, fortunately, there are no pictures.
