Update: It pains us to write this, because the whole event seemed so hilarious—another reason to love our Jakes—but, apparently, the fire drill was not the doing of the Boston Fire Department. Our usually more level-headed friends at Universal Hub, where we got the story in the first place, have issued a retraction, and we'll do the same. Apparently, the fire drill was scheduled by the building management, not the BFD. So, sorry, Jakes!
The Boston Fire Department has pulled off the most awesome campaign prank yet, according to Universal Hub.
The BFD, an upstanding group of dudes, totally hates Thomas Menino because he wants them to stop being such a drugged up bunch of boozehounds. Today is election day, so what did they do? Boston fire drill!
The BFD scheduled the annual fire drill for 2 Center Plaza, Menino's campaign headquarters, for today, when campaign officials presumably had something more important to do than sitting around outside. UHub reports that "50 to 60 campaign staffers" were kept outside for up to a hilarious half an hour.
