Art Exploration

Some kind of art is being made behind every other door in JP. During Jamaica Plain Open Studios, you can walk in on a well over a hundred of those artists this weekend. And in most cases they won't be stoned out on the couch... You're bound to see all sorts of cool, funky stuff. Maybe you'll even find something to fill that empty spot in your apartment. Various locations, Jamaica Plain, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (through Sunday). Free.

Jazz Oddyssey

Three stages of outdoor doesn't happen everyday. Umm, the Beantown Jazz Festival happens once every year. You could just enjoy a casual stroll at any point in the 6 hours, but there are some definite highlights like blues guitarist Joe Louis Walker (2pm). Cantab Lounge legend Little Joe Cook (The Peanut Man!) returns with Berklee's Tower of Power Ensemble (4:30pm), and sax greats Ernie Andrews and Plas Johnson are fighting the good fight with funk-jazz guitarist Melvin Sparks as Defenders of the Groove (4:45pm). Corner of Mass Ave & Columbus Ave, South End. Noon to 6 p.m. Free.

All Fluff -- and Loving It

Somerville can be proud of so much, but Archibald Query's crazy marshmallow concoction is something to celebrate. That's why we have "What the Fluff?" Fesstival. Fluffernutter may be the guest of honor this year, but you can stuff your face with all sorts of reasonably-priced treats or enjoy Fluff fun 'n games or enjoy the entertainment including Jordan Valentine & the Sunday Saints, Rex Complex, Los Sugar Kings, and The Flufferettes. Union Square Plaza, Somerville. 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Free.

Retro Movie Night with Gore

One Bostonist told us this must be listed in a knowing tone that confirms this classic Italian horror movie as one of the scariest of all time. A technicolor print of "Suspiria" has been acquired for a premium viewing experience. When you're covering your eyes, think about the director and the leading lady also producing Italian actress Asia Argento. Brattle Theatre, 40 Brattle St, Cambridge, 9:30 p.m. $9.50.

Retro Movie Night with Cupcakes

T-shirt maestro Johnny Cupcakes hosts his monthly movie night, and tonight's classic is "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." How cool would it be to pick up a limited-edition Bueller-inspired Cupcakes shirt? (We ask, because we don't know.) Johnny hosts the fun, which usually includes a contest and whatever he feels like doing. Coolidge Corner Theatre, 290 Harvard St., Brookline, 11:55 p.m. $9.75

Asia Argento's mom, Daria Nicolodi, co-wrote Suspiria, but she did not appear in it. She was the leading lady of many of Dario Argento's other films.
