Remember when the Secretary of State ordered Menino aide Michael Kineavy's computer seized so that a computer forensic expert could pore over his hard drive and recover his supposedly deleted emails? And then the city released 5018 "lost" emails and claimed that it couldn't provide any emails Kineavy sent to people outside of City Hall because recovering them would be too expensive?
It turns out that all of that was crap. Kineavy pulled the old second computer trick. The Globe reports that Kineavy switched to a new computer in April and "forgot" about it.
Last time we switched computers, it took us more than a month to fix all of our programs and settings the way we like them; we assume that Kineavy just goes with the defaults. The hard drive of Kineavy's old computer promises to be a treasure trove of scandalous emails. Mayoral candidate Michael Flaherty wants an independent investigation to review how this happened.
