The last time we heard something from Tina Brown's Daily Beast, it was the dubious claim that sweet little Emerson "Whiteytown" College is the most dangerous school in the country. So we're taking the publication's latest news with a grain of salt... and a side of fries.
It seems that conquering crime wasn't enough (though there is now a list of safe schools, none of which are in Massachusetts), so TDB has moved on to cafeterias. The publication explored college cafeterias across the country and came up with a shortlist that includes UMass Amherst and Boston College.
UMass's mystery diners and visiting chef program earned it honors, while BC's chocolate bar won over the Beast's judges, perhaps making up for the school's lack of recognition in GQ's douche contest. In area-ish listmakers, Bowdoin got props for a 1200-lobster feast on campus, and former Boston Ritz-Carlton chef Klaus Mandl is credited with saving the palates of Wheaton College (Ill.) students, whose souls are already saved by classes like Prison Epistles (which actually sounds pretty rad).
If you're hankerin' for the cafeteria experience but lost your college ID long ago, you might try Cafeteria Boston, which sounds like it has cafeteria-level food and service, if not prices.
