Jack DeJohnette is one of the greatest jazz drummers of his generation. His contributions to Miles Davis's electric era alone would be enough to qualify him for superlative praise, but he's also worked with everyone from Bill Evans to David Murray, with a long and notable collaboration with Keith Jarrett to boot. His newer, ambient music might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the wealth of his back catalog is undeniable. DeJohnette will sit behind the drums tonight as his band mate, Berklee prof Dave Fiuczynski, leads a group of students through DeJohnette's "musical history and future." Berklee Performance Center, 136 Mass. Ave., 8:15 p.m. $20-$25.
Pop
The kids seem to like this Grizzly Bear, and, whatever else we think about its twee Brian Wilson retreading act, the band's cover of "Owner of a Lonely Heart" was enough for Bostonist to give it a what's up. Orpheum Theatre, 1 Hamilton Place, 8 p.m. $25.
Quiz Shows
Bostonist has seen a live taping of Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, the NPR quiz show, once before, and if you like the program's geeky deadpan, you won't be disappointed. If you don't, you'll probably wonder why the hell you went to see a taping of a radio show that you don't like. CitiWang, 270 Tremont St., 7:30 p.m. $38-$68.
Back from the Dead
When we heard that Manic Street Preachers was coming to town, we checked to see when Richey Edwards turned back up. Turns out, he's still probably dead. Paradise Rock Club, 967 Comm. Ave., 9 p.m. $20.
Octoberfests
Sam Adams throws an Octoberfest for charity. The event features free-flowing booze, snacks and a silent auction, and the proceeds go to Boston Cares, "a non-profit team-based volunteer agency that mobilizes 20,000 volunteers annually." Sam Adams Brewery, 30 Germania St., Jamaica Plain, 6 p.m. $40.
