The Social Network may be the worst movie title since My Best Friend's Girl desecrated the Cars' legacy, but that didn't stop Justin Timberlake from signing up for it. This means JT not-T will "likely" be at Somerville's Thirsty Scholar in two weeks filming that poorly but appropriately titled movie, which apparently traces the tale of Facebook's founding at Harvard. Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, the film will also star Adventureland's Jesse Eisenberg.

Timberlake joins Cameron Diaz, Jon Hamm, and Ben Affleck to round out a group of stars who've been in town to shoot films recently. Is Beantown on its way to becoming a bona fide filming destination? Justin seems to be beckoning us to accompany him on the path to social network stardom.

As we noted yesterday, the Boston Phoenix is suing Facebook for infringing on its online dating technology. Phoenix subsidiary Tele-Publishing operates under People2People, which provides online dating services, and alleges that Facebook violated its profile patent. Will this be incorporated into the film alongside the ConnectU settlement, or will The Social Network accentuate the positive? We'll have to wait and see—or stake out the Thirsty Scholar and ask Mr. SexyBack.
