Sports Redux: Recovery Edition

How considerate of the Boston Bruins. After the Red Sox and Patriots choked fell to the Angels and Broncos, respectively, on Sunday, Boston's boys of hockey decided to show solidarity and keep the losing ways going on Monday. A sloppy early afternoon game at the Garden ended with a happy Colorado Avalanche leaving with a 4-3 victory and the Bruins wrapping up a homestand with a 2-3 record.

In other words, recent days haven't been the best for Boston, whether you're a fan or a player. The dazed look that was in Jonathan Papelbon's eyes during his post-game interviews on Sunday could be seen in the Pats a few hours later and was obviously present on the ice yesterday. As Claude Julien put it on Monday, "When your head isn’t all there, you don’t skate and play like you should."

So now what? You recover, regroup, move on. The Bruins need to figure out what they have to do to gel. The Red Sox are already looking at what they need to do for next season - and who they will and won't have in that effort. The Celtics are blowing out birthday candles and gearing up for their season. And we know something is going on in the Pats organization, even if Bill won't tell us what it is.

So today, we here at Bostonist urge fans to stop. Breathe. Realize it's all going to be OK. Let's all stick our heels into the ground, stop the slide and stay away from the Tobin. Today, that's pretty much all we can do.
