But that's kind of a big deal, since it matches their season high. The "team goes up...team goes down" Bruins survived a tough beginning to come back and win in a shootout in Ottawa last night, 4-3.

The B's are giving most of the credit on this one to Tim Thomas, who recorded 27 saves, some among his best of the year, and gave his teammates a chance to get back in the game. Which they did, on very late third-period goals by Mark Recchi and David Krejci to force OT. "Timmy was unbelievable," said Derek Morris, who assisted both of those late goals. Patrice Bergeron beat Ottawa's Brian Elliott in the shootout for the win. The B's now try for an unprecedented 2-game streak when they host New Jersey on Thursday.

Dan Shaughnessy is in London, and is shocked to find out that most people over there don't know much about Tom Brady. We're not even going to link to it, it's so stupid. How many folks-on-the-street in Boston could name one English soccer player, even if they were playing over here? How many average folks over here could find England on a map of Great Britain? And how much is the troubled Globe spending to have Dan over there reporting that the streets are (well, not really filled but in the presence of) "New England yahoos who have made the flight across the pond," which of course doesn't include Dan because He's A Journalist.

BC had a chance to add another quality win to their surprising season, but fell short, losing 20-16 to Notre Dame in South Bend. The Eagles grabbed the lead on the first drive of the second half, but the Irish struck with eight minutes to go and BC couldn't put together a score to match. They're 5-3, and after ND visits the Heights next season, there's a lot of doubt as to whether the rivalry will be renewed.
