Voters in New England's least appealing state told approximately one tenth of its population that it could go f*ck itself but without the sanction of marriage. Maine, also home to Olympia Snowe, did not include a trigger option in its narrow repeal of the state's same-sex marriage law. [Globe]

I live in Boston, but I'm from Maine, and while I am also disappointed in the results, I also don't think Civil Rights should be put up for debate.. we shouldn't have to vote to give people a right they already should have. Calling Maine the least appealing state in New England is foolishly ignorant. Have you been to Rhode Island?
Yet they voted for medical pot, go figure. Rights, naw who needs those when we can all get high (I know it's going to be restricted, I'm just making a point).
If any state wants to treat gay people as second class citizens by not offering them the option of marriage, then maybe their taxes should reflex that, say with only paying half of their current Federal, State and Local Taxes. Now that seems fair to me.
