-- A Fall River father pleaded not guilty to assault and reckless endangerment of a child after allegely locking his children in the trunk of his car. He told Fall River District Court Wednesday that his kids, ages 3 and 6, like to play in the trunk. [WCVB]

-- A West Roxbury man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly trying to steal a Hello Kitty purse, three lipstick pens and two gimp strings without paying for the items. [Herald]

-- New Bedford police are investigating a series of soda bottle explosions. The devices, made out of aluminum foil and chemicals stuffed inside plastic bottles, have caused no injuries or property damage. There is a suspect. [AP via Boston.com]

-- An Arlington Catholic High School football player pled not guilty to assault and battery today at Cambridge District Court. The player allegedly head-butted an opponent in a September 19. [Globe]
