Globe Goes Crazy for Khazei

In a semi-surprising move, the Boston Globe endorses Alan Khazei in the Democratic primary for Senate. The Globe calls the City Year founder "Massachusetts’ best chance to produce another great senator," citing Khazei's strong vision, collaborative talents, and forward-thinking stance. Other candidates are criticized: Michael Capuano for basing his campaign on "populist anger," Martha Coakley for lacking "legislative energy", and Stephen Pagliuca as "not a good fit" for the Senate job. Folks at Blue Mass Group wonder if the Khazei endorsement is anything more than a union-busting move for charter schools, and note that the Boston Pressmen's Union endorsed Capuano a while ago, putting the Globe in (unsurprising) conflict with some of its own workers.
