Boston Blotter: Shooter Indicted in Slaying of Pregnant Woman

-- Ruben Sanchez, a 19-year-old from Hyde Park, was indicted in the September 20 murder of Paula Castillo, a pregnant woman who was celebrating her 18th birthday. Two of Sanchez's friends were indicted as accessories to the crime. Prosecutors say that one of the men, Miguel Vasquez, urged Sanchez to "show them what you got" before Sanchez shot Castillo. -- An accused rapist fled from the Old Colony Correctional Center in Bridgewater on Friday after hearing a news report that implicated him in the crime. Manson Brown, who now faces charges in a 1996 rape and home invasion in Cambridge was behind bars on an unrelated home invasion and robbery charge. [Herald]

-- Boston cops busted a 30-year-old Boston man near the Roxbury-Jamaica Plain line after he allegedly fired an illegal gun into the air. [BPDNews]

-- A man in the South End arrived home to find that his neighbor had allegedly broken into his basement. When confronted, the neighbor reportedly attacked the man and asked "Where's the rent?" [BPDNews]
