All A-Twitter about the Massachusetts Senate Primary

We caught a primary candidate debate last week, so what better time for another than tonight? We weren't typing away as the debate progressed this time, so we poked around the Twinternet to get some perspectives. Kennedy Seat has Pagliuca claiming victory, something we're skeptical about after seeing his figures-heavy but comprehension-light performance last week. The Khazei Campaign also says it came out on top: "While the other candidates squabbled and promoted their plans for more business as usual, Alan clearly articulated his vision for our Commonwealth and our country." The MCs have not claimed victory yet that we've seen.

But let's get down to what really matters: what did Twitter—that reflection of the common man—have to say about the #demdebate?

mattcad: Capuano is the best candidate, Coakley will limit civil liberties, Khazei knows 0 about stimulus and Pags=Lazio

chrismatth: I still can't believe @AlanKhazei didn't know the difference between TARP and the Recovery & Reinvestment Act

datafordonkeys: Four candidates - only one Senator. Capuano in control tonight.

tjl82090: There's a reason @alankhazei is ahead in all the debate polls. People want a citizen senator.

dnkboston: Pagliuca... So sick of businessmen who want to be politicians ragging on... politicians.

saddoniz01: i think that this debate did not give me, an undecided voter, any more useful info about any of these candidates.

nshimshock: Watching #demdebate for #masen and am no closer to knowing who to vote for on Tuesday.

fesc42: Um, by the way notice how the western part of MA has yet to be mentioned in the #demdebate?

CandysTime: losing respect for Capuano - the name dropper and Pagulica very quickly. Narrowing down my choices

ajvsell: Trends in the debate? Capuano and Pagliuca going hard after Coakley. Coakley not firing back, Khazei staying above it too.

noramann: thanks to Martha Coakley for not insulting us by thinking we just need simple yes or no answers

Topher_Campbell: Its up to Kerry to live up to the Kennedy legacy as the Sen. Senator from Ma. This election is about electing the next junior Sen

From a very quick glance through the tweets, there seemed to be a lot of support for Capuano and Coakley—but that may just reflect a more Twitterized voter base among the MCs. Given his recent endorsements, Khazei may be shaping up to hold his own against the MCstablishment, Tweets be damned. In other Senate race news of the day, Blue Mass Group joined the Globe in endorsing Alan Khazei, the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police endorsed Martha Coakley, and Edward Markey endorsed Mike Capuano.

If, like some of our Twitterers, you haven't made up your mind yet, there's one more debate to help you out. The candidates will clash again tomorrow night at 7pm on NECN. If that doesn't help, you can always check the candidates' websites for their official stances on the issues: Martha Coakley, Alan Khazei, Michael Capuano, Stephen Pagliuca.
