Bits of Movies
As former projectionists ourselves, we're delighted that the Harvard Film Archive has honored the departing 20-year veteran of its booth with his own showcase. Steve Livernash has been hitting the changeover pedal for four decades in the Boston area and has worked everywhere from the Carpenter Center to the porn theaters of the Combat Zone's glory days. Tonight, he shares stories from his career along with a few artifacts he's picked up along the way before screening Reality's Invisible, a documentary about the Carpenter Center. Harvard Film Archive, Carpenter Center, 24 Quincy St., Cambridge, 7 p.m. $12.
Wine
The Second Glass Crash Course Wine Seminars usually give you tips for drinking wine on a budget, but it's the holiday season, which means that you are supposed to do it up. Tonight, the wine magazine will introduce you to "baller holiday wines" that are worth their hefty price tag. At the very least, it's your chance to sip the most expensive wine in the store on the cheap. The Wine Gallery, 375 Boylston St., Brookline, 7 p.m. $10.
