-- A Dorchester letter carrier was attacked and slashed in an attempted robbery. The victim fought off the assailant, who was armed with a knife and ended up with nothing. The incident took place on Mount Vernon Terrace at about 2:20 p.m. on Thursday. The Herald described the suspect as "a clean shaven black male, with a black watch cap, black hoodie, sweatshirt and a diamond earring in his right ear." -- Laura Lundquist, 98, was indicted today on a second-degree-murder charge in connection with the killing of her 100-year-old roommate at the Brandon Woods Nursing Home. Lundquist was sent to Taunton State Hospital for evaluation. [Globe]

-- A homeless man allegedly stole $7.39 in change from a car across from Somerville's police station. The suspect allegedly told the victim to "f— off" when the victim asked him to leave. He was charged with resisting arrest and breaking into a car. [Somerville Journal]

An undercover officer arrested an alleged prostitute after arranging "girlfriend type of sexual experience" for a fee; a man allegedly robbed and bit a woman; a man parked a car illegally that was stolen earlier in the day; a man with an illegal gun was arrested in Roxbury.
