As our lovely commenters never tire of telling us, Bostonist is a blog written by cranks. We hate, well, practically everything. As the young Bostonists' elder, I have been given the not indistinct pleasure of chronicling the things we hated during 2009, one of the crappiest years of my long life. This post began as a several thousand word tour de force, but the feculent conventions of internet publishing have transformed my masterpiece into a top ten list. I hope you don't like thinking.
10. Fixies. Fixed gear bicycles stood in for a multitude of sins this year as the war between cyclists and pedestrians continued to escalate on Boston's streets. Few images capture everything that's wrong with Boston's cyclists like a bare-headed fixie rider running a light and bearing down on an elderly man making his innocent way through the crosswalk.
