Former health insurance executive and Republican gubernatorial hopeful Charles D. Baker must be pulling some pretty tall dollars if the current headline on Boston.com, "Baker's funds dwarf rivals," is anything to go by. We've never thought of Deval Patrick as a tall man, but it would take quite a stack of bills to make him look like a little person.

Baker, who by all accounts still has a clutch of friends in the health care industry, reportedly broke records for fundraising during the past five months of campaigning, amassing three times what Patrick has at his disposal.

Does this spell certain doom for the only governor to have been sired by a member of Sun Ra's Arkestra? Not necessarily. Baker still has to overcome Crazy Christy Mihos to win the Republican nomination, and there's no telling what Mihos will try to put in Baker's ass. And then, if he makes it to the general election, Baker will face a challenge from the right in the person of incompetent former treasurer Tim Cahill.

Okay, okay, so Deval does have his work cut out for him.
