Photo of the Day, January 20, 2010: I.M. Pei's Flag

We’ve seen quite a few photos of the American flag, but few have played so creatively with color and geometry. We like the way the red and white stripes on the flag fall parallel to the metal work and mimic its vertical flow. We like how punchy the flag colors are, especially compared to the surrounding matrix. Great composition, and nice eye, JHamel.

Note: The flag pictured in this image was custom made and commissioned by architect I.M. Pei. See it in the Pavilion at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.
