  • Representative Patrick Kennedy isn't running for re-election. Basically, Kennedy said his father's death changed his priorities. Bostonist wishes Kennedy well. [Boston Globe]
  • As Governor, Tim Cahill says he will propose significant layoffs and across-the-board tax cuts. [Boston Herald]
  • President Barack Obama is reportedly "agnostic” about raising taxes as a way to control the budget deficit. Bostonist isn't sure what Republicans will hate more; that Obama left the door open to a potential tax increase or that he said he was agnostic about something. [Bloomberg]
  • Massachusetts is considering giving health care to family members of Haitian earthquake victims. [Boston Herald]
  • The new owner of the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly plans to reopen this summer. [WCVB]
  • Massachusetts has a total of 71 bald eagles wintering here, according to the annual count by wildlife officials. The country's bald eagle population is between 13,000 and 16,000 birds. [Attleboro Sun Chronicle]
