Scott Brown's Pink Leather Shorts

5. The Senate campaign. When the most interesting thing to come out of the campaign for Ted Kennedy's U.S. Senate seat was Republican candidate Scott Brown's happy trail, you know our democracy is in trouble.
Vanity Fair hit us with a bombshell this week. Our new senator Scott Brown, who totally hates the gays, went to his first date with his wife in a pair of pink leather shorts!

Yes, back in the eighties, in the heady days of Miami Vice and homophobic AIDS hysteria, Scott Brown walked the streets in pink leather short shorts, which he used as a pretext to get his date to stroke his thighs.

The revelation came from a New York Times profile of Brown, in which he told his interviewer "If I wore these [shorts] now, I’d get shot." Oh really? Shot by whom? The homophobic militias that attend your election rallies? Maybe it's just the company you keep, senator.
