Boston Blotter: Alleged Eastie Kingpin Toppled; Killing in Stoughton

-- Boston Police, with the help of the FBI and the Staties, arrested a man they called the "drug kingpin" of East Boston. Ferney Pereanez, 24, faces charges that he masterminded a massive cocaine distribution network that brought the drug from Colombia into Boston and then distributed it across the state. He and 7 of his alleged confederates were arrested today on a number of related charges. According to the Suffolk County District Attorney, the arrests were "the result of a wiretap operation so extensive that it required federal funding and at least three Spanish-speaking translators at any given time." -- As soon as the rain stopped, the murdering resumed. A Stoughton man was shot to death early this morning while sleeping in bed. Police arrested a suspect in the killing. [Herald]

-- A Raynham woman faces charges that she helped her brother beat his wife to death. [Herald]

-- Gloucester cops think that they've solved the 1976 murder of a 65-year-old woman. They think the lobsterman did it. [Herald]

All charges alleged until proven under law.
