So That's Why Democrats Are Raising More Campaign Cash?

220px-Caddyshack_poster.jpg We're thrilled that Republican Charlie Baker saw fit to link his campaign to a classic American comedy like Caddyshack. We hope Tim Cahill counters Spaulding Smails with Gummy from Fletch. (We planned to suggest Ted Underhill until we realized he is currently deceased.)

Too bad Baker couldn't get an actual celebrity - Lenny Clarke doesn't count - to help him raise campaign cash on Thursday at his Lansdowne Pub fundraiser. (Incidently, Mr. Baker, was that the best place for you to raise cash just a month after someone was killed there?)

Baker and the state GOP are losing out on the battle for campaign cash to Democrats. In August, Democrats, including Governor Deval Patrick, raised twice as much as Republicans. Democrats brought in $988,127 and Republicans $418,581.

Baker is reportedly getting help raising money from Senators John McCain and Scott Brown in October. The race could get tighter.
