About Bostonist

Bostonist is a website about Boston and everything that happens in it. That means coverage of breaking news, old news, local arts and events, music and film, politics and corruption, restaurants and bars, happenings and goings-on, and musings and observations of all sorts.

Bostonist was officially launched in early 2005 and is managed by a growing group of hard-working bloggers. Few if any of us are trained journalists; we work because we love Boston and/or a particular niche within it. We also love our readers, so feel free to comment, email us, or even follow us on Twitter.

If you're in need of exposure in Boston, consider purchasing advertisements on the site. We also welcome partners who wish to co-sponsor occasional happy hours, throw a music or magic show, or work with us on other exciting local events.

Occasionally-Asked Questions
Can I write for Bostonist?
If you have writing experience, local connections, and an innovative take on some aspect of Boston, we'd love to hear from you.

I've got a news/story idea. Do you want it?
Bostonist is always interested in hearing from our readers. If there is a news story you think we should report on, an item that needs attention in the Boston ethos, or a disaster about to unfold, please drop us a line or Tweet at us.

I've got a Boston blog, will you post about me?
We might, but we can't if we don't know about you. Have you linked to us, shot us a trackback, or commented on a Bostonist post? We'd like it if you did. Feel free to get in touch with an interesting idea you have or topic you've covered.

Is there a cost-effective way to reach an audience of technologically savvy, hip, young people in the Boston area?
There sure is. Bostonist, through our publisher Gothamist, is currently accepting advertisements. Three areas on the site are for sale: Top banner position, side bar, and the mid section. Ads appear on archive, monthly, and top level pages so rest assured that your precious ads will be reaching every type of Bostonist reader. Please refer to our media kit for details.

Is that Ironsides in your logo, or are you just happy to see me?
Ironsides. Thanks for noticing. Our logo contains the USS Constitution, the world's oldest commissioned warship afloat. The other buildings are the Prudential Center, John Hancock building, and the Custom House tower.
