A chilly perspective for our last macro of the month. We love the minimalism of this shot, and generally appreciate all of shoothead's great work.
Thanks again for all the macro shots, we'll have voting brackets up on the Bostonist Flickr group page after the weekend so you can all vote on your favorite. Don't forget to look for the new theme to be announced on Monday. Happy Friday Boston!

Flickr photog sissnitz gives us this adorable macro shot for today. I love the expression on the sumo's face and we give sissnitz props for seeing the potential for this great photo.
Bostonist wanted to say Thank You to all the readers who responded to our macro theme challenge for this month. We received a bunch of great photos and we're just thrilled at your enthusiasm. Tomorrow will be the last macro posted and then stay tuned for the October theme...

Chris Teso shows his prowess again with this great capture. The way the light and lines collide give a standard city scene the ethereal treatment. The many law school students in the city will appreciate his clever title as well. Chris also happens to have a photog wife - quite the talented couple!

*B.G.Lewandowski* is fast becoming a Photo of the Day darling. With pictures like these, can you blame me for loving his work? I could ramble on and on about what makes this photo so great, but honestly, Brian's work is so good, I feel I don't have to. I just love this shot - Enjoy!

Another great macro shot to start off the week. This playful photo pays homage to a Boston sports legend and helps to distract us from the slumping sox and get us excited for the upcoming Celtics season. Thanks to PotD newbie chrisklein for this efforts.

Ridiculously talented Boston photog nymphobrainiac gives us today's shot. Great perspective, rich tones and saturation, clever title - all the qualities of a great photograph....but look a little deeper to see what sets this morbidly awesome photo apart.

Another great macro shot from talented photog B Tal. The composition here is simple but powerful and enhanced by the depth of field focus. What really makes this, and all, of B Tal's photos unique is his title and description. Click on the photo to see what I mean.

Flickr user barnhizzle gives us another neat macro shot. Can you tell where this photo was taken when viewed from this unique angle? We loved the movement of the water and great depth of focus

Flickr user sissnitz contributed a bunch of photos to the pool over the weekend so I had to show recognition of his photo-travels around the city. Why choose this one? Mostly because it made me laugh, and its a shot of one of those things that just makes you smirk and say "What the?" Welcome again to sissnitz as a Bostonist PotD contributor.
Photo Editor's note - I've been getting some great macro shots that I'll be posting, thanks to all that have contributed, and as always, keep them coming!!

Flickr User Viarcocha76 gives us the first submission to fit the MACRO theme for September. This picture is whimsical and fun and we love that the little guy is "calling for backup." Could this be an allusion to the Sox-Yanks series this weekend? Our army man is rallying the troops for some big wins!

Good Afternoon all you beautiful Boston photogs!
The Flickr Bostonist pool has been a bit light as of late so I wanted to challenge you all to get out there and get creative!
I'm presenting a theme for this month --> MACRO. Think outside the box on this one, I'd rather not receive 50 macro flower shots. Instead, show us a unique view of Boston. Perhaps you could show an often photographed Boston landmark, but instead get up-close and show a different perspective. Any shots taken at close range will be considered. I'm a sucker for great Depth of Focus so I look forward to seeing what you all can do.
Please tag the photos you would like to be considered with 'bostonist' and 'september' in Flickr. Of course, you can always email your submissions to photo@bostonist.com as well.

The bright colors was what first drew me to AprilM2107's photo. In my opinion the framing of the shot sets a tone that is open to interpretation. The lone boat could evoke many different emotions depending on the viewer. For me, its another reminder of the waning days of summer - what does April's shot mean to you?

The ever-humorous *B.G.Lewandowski* offers this hilarious and creative self-portrait. This shot was just so different and well done I had to share.
Photo editor's note - I am away from my photo-shopping program this morning, so instead of compromising the quality I chose instead to post a smaller size than usual. I hope you understand.

Flickr user iris.rigby gives us this neat shot from aboard the Schooner Roseway as they headed back to Boston. This picture has great lines and a unique antique-like tone. THIS other shot from the boat offers a different perspective.
