Boston Blotter: Roxbury Pop Pulls Knife on Daughter

-- Boston police found an 18-year-old woman running down Dudley Street in Roxbury without any shoes on late last night. The woman was allegedly fleeing her father, a 51-year-old Boston man, who had assaulted her with a knife because she had stayed on the computer too late. After a brief confrontation, police arrested the suspect. [BPDNews]

Boston Blotter: Barros Convicted, 10-Year-Old Terror in Dorchester

-- Casimiro Barros, 22, was convicted in the 2007 crossfire killing of Chiara Levin, a Kentucky woman who was visiting relatives in Boston. Levin was killed during a shoot-out outside of a Dorchester party. Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley had tried Barros on first-degree murder rap but was "satisfied" with the conviction on the lesser charge. [Herald]

Reverend Bruce Wall has gone to great lengths to draw attention to the violence on the streets of this city. The last time he appeared on Bostonist, he had published a letter advising tourists not to visit Boston following the death of New York City resident Chiara Levin in February. Wall is in the spotlight again for different reasons. The Globe reported today that his 15-year-old son is a suspect in an armed robbery in...

--A one-man robbery wave is rolling through the city. A guy is walking into stores, especially sweet shoppes, and holding them up. Between April 17 and June 26, the suspect has held up 16 businesses. This is the same guy who held up the Yankee Candle - and Truly Jorg's and the Lindt Chocolate Shope and more. Clearly the guy thinks in terms of quantity, not quality. How much cash can he pick up at...

Early yesterday morning, the BPD was summoned to the Mansion Night Club for a disturbance. Two men from Billerica were involved in a brawl, and one of the men must have decided he really wanted to go to jail because he took a bite out of an officer's thigh. There's no indication on the BPD blog of how large the bite was or whether or not the officer had to go to the hospital for...

Two men have been arrested for the murder of Chiara Levin in March. 34-year-old Manuel Andrade of Dorchester and 21-year-old Casimiro Barros of Roxbury will be arraigned on Monday in Dorchester District Court. A press release from the office of Suffolk DA Daniel Conley describes how the events leading up to Levin's murder unfolded: "[At the Caprice Lounge] she and her friends met Manuel Andrade and two other men. Levin and her friends went with...

--The BPD has instituted a "Party Line" against improper after-hours parties. Chiara Levin died after one of those parties, but loud parties don't kill people. Guns and the people who shoot them kill people. Maybe the people who hold those parties should be more selective when it comes to their guest list. But, if you think your neighbor is "Keeping a Disorderly House" in BPD lingo, and you're fed up by the racket, call 617-343-5500. If you think your neighbor is "Keeping a Disorderly House" and carrying a weapon, call 911.

We usually run the blotter in the evenings, but the headlines say it all and make us angry: --"Shooting on Crowded Bus, Slaying Stun Dorchester" [Globe] --"One Killed, Two Wounded in Separate Boston Shootings" [AP] --"Teen Shot on Bus as Angels Watch Over Hub" [Herald on the first shooting] --"Man, 27, Killed As He Hid From Gunmen" [Herald on the second shooting] --"Tonight's Shooting Incidents, One Fatal, One Critical" [BPD News] In short, a young...

--Commissioner Ed Davis isn't thrilled that the Guardian Angels want to come back to Boston. Guardian Angel leader Curtis Sliwa says that's Davis' problem, and the Angels are coming back to Boston anyway. The Guardian Angels have been here before, but they left in 1992. In fact, you might see the trademark red beret of the Angels starting tomorrow. (And let us know if you do.) --Since Chiara Levin died, it seems as if our...

The Chiara Levin case has unleashed an outcry against the gun violence. People are fed up. Reverend Bruce Wall says he will post signs around the city warning tourists that they are not safe in Boston if the mayor doesn't act now and declare a state of emergency. Maybe that will get the mayor to stop talking about after-hours house parties and start talking about gangs and guns. The Herald quotes what Wall plans to...

--The outrage over Chiara Levin's murder is growing. Like Quinntessa Blackwell, Levin wasn't the "intended target," according to police.

--A 44-year-old guy found out how hard it is to get into MIT when he tried to burgle a fraternity early Friday morning. Since these are MIT students, they were awake. They were also sober enough to realize that this individual wasn't a fraternity brother, though it would be hard to miss a large 44-year-old dude trying to hide behind a large-screen TV set.
