Boston Blotter: Big Dig Swindlers Plead Guilty

-- Two managers of Aggregate Industries NE, Inc. pleaded guilty to charges that they participated in a conspiracy to deliver substandard concrete to Big Dig construction sites. Gerard McNally and Keith Thomas were two of six men charged in the case. McNally and Thomas will testify against their co-defendents as a condition of their plea agreements. [Herald]

-- Police have identified the victim of yesterday's fatal shooting in Mission Hill. Rebecca Payne, 22, was an athletic training major Northeastern University student who was well-liked by her colleagues and an active member of the university. Payne was shot twice in her legs and once in her chest. Police have not ruled out the possibility that she knew her killer and have not released any further information about their investigation. Although witnesses claim to have heard gunshots early Tuesday morning, no emergency call was made, which distresses Bostonist. If you hear gunshots, you should call the police because it might save somebody's life. [Globe; Herald]

-- Yesterday's brutal stabbing in Chelsea may have been the culmination of a violent domestic conflict. Eugene Teixeira, 21, was arraigned today on charges that he stabbed his mother's boyfriend Shadeed Wiggins to death. Teixeira's 16-year-old brother also faces charges of home invasion and disorderly conduct after the pair broke into their mother's house in pursuit of Wiggins, 25. According to reports, Wiggins had attacked Janeen Teixeira, the brothers' mother, earlier in the day, part of a five-month pattern of alleged physical abuse against her. Janeen Teixeira had asked her sons to leave the house, and, when they returned, armed, Eugene Teixeira stabbed Wiggins 6 times, authorities say. [Globe; Herald]

--The search for the Northeastern student who had been missing since the day after the Super Bowl has ended. BPD detectives tracked him to Paris, France, and he has now contacted his parents to let him know that he is well. He better bring some baguettes back for his parents and the BPD. [BPD News]
