Are you a fan of Google Maps? Are you a fan of the MBTA? Wait, that second one might be a bit too much to ask for. How about: do you have to use the MBTA and/or would you like to use it more often and more efficiently?
A couple months ago we did this little Fenway Park piece with Boston-based comedian Ira Proctor.
Mistakenly regarded as a Pixies spin-off band, the Breeders have always been an entity to themselves. Sure, the band is helmed by Pixies bassist Kim Deal started the Breeders with (Throwing Muse) Tanya Donelly when the Pixies were in a tailspin and headed for a breakup way back in the early '90s. The Breeders released the excellent Pod (still a fave of ours and Kurt Cobain's) in 1990 and followed it with their platinum album, Last Splash in '93 - but they have consistently released excellent music since their inception.

Scott Kirsner has had a new book, Fans, Friends & Followers: Building An Audience And A Creative Career In The Digital Age, and it's a great read. Kirsner is a kind of Michael Musto of the regional technology scene: he knows all the companies and their principals, he knows about new products and partnerships, he knows the venture capitalists and their areas of investment, and his observations of these phenomena and his commentary are published in his "Innovation Economy" column at the Boston Globe. The column, and his InnoEco blog are must-reads for any entrepreneur or anyone working in tech in New England.

Janeane Garofalo's performance at AltCom09 last Friday was easily the highlight of the evening. While there had been concern that her performance would be interrupted by conservative "teabaggers", a fearless Garofalo jumped into the audience at her first opportunity which delighted the crowd and set the tone for her set (see the video after the jump for excerpts). As a fan of her character on "24", Janis Gold, her reading of dialogue from the show was particularly funny.
