I believe it was the poet laureate, Adam Sandler, who said it best when he exclaimed. ‘YOU BLEW IT!’ Jonathan Papelbon blew his second save situation of this season, when the Twins beat the Sox 7 – 6. The water cooler community breathed a sigh of relief this time around since no coolers were harmed after this game. The struggling Mike Lamb got his chance to prove his worth and drove in two runs... Yet another “celebrity” has announced that he's releasing a clothing line. Perez Hilton recently announced he will be throwing his hat into the ring of celebrity fashion. America’s favorite blogger’s line will be sold exclusively at Hot Topic. No word if sister store, Torrid, will be carrying the line in plus sizes. The designs, much like Perez, are as expected. They're brash, bright, bawdy and have that techno/fluorescent color vibe that some might say screams... [continue]

When you hear that Dice-K walked 8 last night, you might assume that the Sox lost the game. And that the win might have gotten Detroit’s manager Jim Leyland to cut down on his daily smoking habit. Unfortunately for Leyland's lungs, the Sox beat the Tigers, 6-3, despite his juggled batting order and call to Triple A. In addition to his 8 walks, Dice-K struck out 1 over 5 innings of work. Francona blamed... [continue]

Somewhere on Yawkey Way there’s a red tailed hawk giggling at the Celtics. For those of you who missed it, the Celtics lost (again) in Atlanta, 103-100. Do you really want to make history for being the 4th top seed team to get the boot by an 8th seeed team ever? Do you really want to see Motor Mouth Mike Bibby flapping his gums about how they beat the Celtics? Do you really want... [continue]

Guinness family heiress, Daphne Guinness, cleaned out her closet this week. For a good cause. After deciding she needs to make room for 20 more years of must-have trends, Guinness placed everything from Prada shoes to Alexander McQueen bags on an online auction site to raise money for the Womankind Worldwide fund. Our heart skipped a beat when we saw the Roland Mouret ‘Goldsmith’ dressand we wished we had the money (and the body)... [continue]

Some thought the road to the Celtics' 17th title was going to be a cake walk. But if the sports fans in Boston know anything, they know that it’s never that easy. The Celtics dropped another game last night to the Atlanta Hawks 97-92, tying the series at two games a piece. Ray Allen led the team and scored 21 points, and KG racked up 20. Garnett got into a little tussle after elbowing... [continue]

Sports Redux: Sox Slide on April 26, 2008

The Red Sox continued their slide last night, losing to the Tampa Bay ‘Please Don’t Call Us The Devil Rays’ Rays 5- 4 in the 11th . But the most painful part of last night’s game wasn’t the 11th inning single that Mike Timlin gave up, but was the injury backup first basemen, Sean Casey. Casey tweaked his right hip flexor coming running home after Jacoby Ellsbury hit a single in the second inning... [continue]

A couple of weeks ago, we posed the question, ‘What happened to Jay McCarroll?’ We found out he that he had produced his first line and had a few other projects in the works. One of which, the documentary "Eleven Minutes," debuts tonight at the Boston Independent Film Festival. We got a chance to speak to Jay about the movie, fashion and what we can expect in the near future. "HORRIBLE!" was the answer... [continue]

Since the Red Sox have had recent success in Game 7 situations, the Bruins were probably hoping that it would rub off on them, allowing them to shake off a history of constantly losing Game 7. Sorry, try again. Last night brought a close to the hockey season in Boston, when the Bruins lost to the Montreal Canadiens in a 5 – 0 shutout. Habs rookie goalie Casey Price won his second shutout of... [continue]

Some people do their best work under pressure. Maybe that was the key to the Bruins 5-1 win over the Habs last night in Montreal. Phil Kessel, who has spent the majority of the playoffs on the bench, was the spark that got the B’s going in the second period, scoring the first goal for the team. It was the 3rd period when the Bruins decided to show the Canadiens that they weren’t going down... [continue]

Women struggle every day to find the right outfit -- the one that looks good on them. We have closets filled to the gills, bursting at the seams, yet we still say we have nothing to wear. We look at the women in Hollywood and wish we could have the stylists on their payrolls to help us look red carpet ready for the boardroom and for the night out on the town. Bostonist has done... Sports Redux: The Exorcist on April 15, 2008

The informal exorcism worked last night. After Yankee officials removed his jersey from Yankee Stadium's foundation, David Ortiz went 2-for-4, nearly doubling his meager collection of hits this season, when the Red Sox beat the Indians 6-4. Yes, it was Papi’s triumphant return last night after taking a whopping one game off. From the sounds of Orsillo’s gushing, you would have thought Ortiz had been on the bench since last year. Like the night before,... [continue]

What girl didn’t want to be The Little Mermaid living in her magical sea kingdom with her aquatic friends when she was younger? Nowadays, if a girl has a crab living with her, she should probably see a gynecologist, and the only fish most of us want to deal with on a regular basis is the kind served in sushi. But fear not, those still wanting to live the dream. This season there will... [continue]

You're Just Not Funny on April 9, 2008

The world is filled with unfunny people. You live with them, work for them, you’re probably dating one. But it’s different when they’re sucking on a small scale. It’s when they suddenly get a wild hair up their ass and decide to take their act on the road with dreams in becoming the next Pryor. The sad thing is, it’s usually the people void of any talent that go further than the ones who... [continue]

Here's Bill! on April 8, 2008

The butt of a million jokes and the name that would cause chills down the spines of Sox fans whenever it was uttered is back in Boston. Who you ask? Bucky "F'in" Dent? Nay. Grady Little? Nope. Bill Buckner. The former member of the doomed 1986 Red Sox is in town to throw out the first pitch for Opening Day . No word yet if Steve Bartman or Billy Sianis and his pet goat... [continue]

Like the stock market, fashion has had its highs and lows this week. So we’ve decided to keep you up to date on the highs (Welcome back, Fashion House!) and the lowest of the lows of the fashion world. Like a beacon of hope, a fashion favorite in Boston is getting ready to make its grand return to the city. Fashion House is back and it’s kicking off tonight. Nicole Romano whose designs have... Last night, Nordstrom held a charity opening gala for its second Boston-area store at the Burlington Mall to raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, The Junior League of Boston and The Links, Incorporated. 1300 people attended last night’s event and helped raise $160,000 for the Boston-based charities. The store was filled with everyone from suburban socialites, stay-at-home moms away from the kids, business men, local celebrities and young women channeling their favorite Sex... [continue]

It wasn’t too long ago when a Burlesque show was something people would sneak into to catch some flesh and some naughty humor. Fast forward to today where something as simple as a burlesque show put on by a few friends in a small club has turned into platinum-selling record, inspiration for haute couture and the launch of a girl from Michigan into a pop culture icon. Granted the lines have been skewed a... [continue]

Secret Is In The Salsa on March 19, 2008

Is there anything Dustin Pedroia can’t do? You can add Condiment Connoisseur to his resume. The Rookie of the Year has recently released his first salsa. Be on the look out for Pedroia’s Black Bean and Corn salsa . Produced by PBL Sports , the company that’s seems to have the market cornered when it comes to athletes and food. How some Big Ben XL Beef Jerky (helmet not included) or maybe for those... [continue]

Bennifer version 2.0 was in town this weekend stumping for Barack Obama. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner hosted a sold out party at Rumor’s night club on Sunday night. Affleck, who first met Senator Obama in 2004 when Boston hosted the Democratic National Convention, has become a fan of the Senator’s and feels he’s the right man for the job. While Ben seemed to have done most of the talking and schmoozing for the... [continue]
