Posted Oprah's Crew Visits for the Weekend to Bostonist
Before the book clubs, car giveaways, and Bob Greene, Bostonist didn't really mind Oprah and her show. Then Ms. Winfrey began her path to spiritual bliss and started her magazine, and now she is a guru of anything having to do with females. So, she’s now pairing up with her own set of “gurus” and is hosting the O You! event this Saturday at the Boston Convention Center. For a measely(!) $95 resgistration fee, you...
Posted Finnish Fashion to Join Cambridge to Bostonist
The Finnish patterns of Marimekko first caught our eye while shopping in Crate and Barrel years back and we’ve been hooked ever since on its trippy patterns and bold colors. Being the naïve, self-righteous ones we are, we assumed C&B got some great new designers, until Bostonist’s more artsy friends told us that Marimekko patterns grew to international success in the mid 1960s, putting Finland on the fashion map. In honor of the Smithsonian, who has free admission to their great museums year round, other museums are joining in this free education ideology and will not be charging admission for this one specific day. In order to enter one of the participating museums for free, you must download...
Posted Do-Gooders Rewarded with Caffeinated Jolt Today to Bostonist
The MBTA has teamed up with Dunkin Donuts today to launch part of their Courtesy Counts campaign, which will reward nice transit users with a $2 Dunkin Donuts gift certificate on the T, buses, and commuter rails. If you give up your seat to an expectant mother or help a clueless tourist figure out the Red Line, you might be a lucky winner. Unfortunately, only 25 MBTA employees are closely watching for niceness, with a...
