Good news, penniless folk fans: badass Boston folk musician Mieka Pauley kicks off a national tour this week with three shows in Boston, and two of them are free. If you're not already down with Pauley, whose throaty, tough, stripped-down songs form the perfect counterpoint to the overproduced, overwrought studio stuff that passes for "folk" these days, this is your chance to check her out alongside some other talented acts. shoothead, one of our favorite local photographers and the brains behind the super-smart lens rental service ZipLens, put together this video of 892 sequential pictures taken on his morning bike ride commute. Not only is this video insanely clever and very well done, it is also a reminder that Boston needs to do more to become a more bike-friendly city.... [continue]

Japanese restaurants can get pricy pretty fast - sushi adds up. But Fin's Sushi + Grill (in Kenmore Square and Cleveland Circle) has a fantastic bento lunch special that severely cuts down on the cost. For between $7and $9, you'll get a heaping mound of healthy and delicious food that fills you up for the afternoon. Miso soup, salad, 2 pork gyoza, 2 pieces of California roll, a pile of fresh fruit, and more... [continue]
Image by Chris Klein Summer Beckons on the Boston Harbor Islands Even though summer is only days old, the word "staycation" has already earned the honor of being the season's most annoying buzzword. But if $4-a-gallon gas and the shaky economy does have you rethinking that trip to the Cape or "the islands" (a.k.a., Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket), you'll still be able to find plenty of island adventures close to home at the Boston... Every week Bostonist is dedicated to bringing you the most contagious Boston-based viral videos on the internet. The sign of a truly strong virus is one that you catch, recover from, and catch again. So is the case with Massachusetts' own viral video star Bo Burnham. Boston Viral Video first caught on to young Bo's pun-full bedroom rap back in early May. As his catchy videos spread across the internet, the bigwigs at Comedy Central... [continue]

Pizza is the quintessential cheap eats. A slice typically only costs a couple of bucks, and it's fast and portable. One slice, however, is often not enough, and you're left wanting more. At Pinocchio's in Harvard Square, however, one slice is filling, and two slices, for the low price of $3.95, makes a full meal. The Sicilian slices are hefty, especially if you snag a corner piece. The dough is crispy on the bottom... [continue]
Our sources with the Boston Bunny Barhop send us photos of the cuddly, bunny-eared mayhem that worked its way down Mass Ave on Friday night. Bunny Barhop devotees did indeed wear their ears with pride. We were especially impressed with the "Sexy Bunny," who is too sexy for his ears: The following video shows just what happens when you bunnies of all shapes, all sizes, all accents, and all levels of drunkenness: We were a...
