Three electric-vehicle charging stations are open for business near City Hall Plaza today as Boston responds to a powerful surge in interest in alternatives to gas-powered cars. The city converted three prized spots on Cambridge Street by adding charging stations to parking meters that have the same $1.25-an-hour price paid by regular vehicles.

You don’t need all those seats: 2 is enough. It doesn’t need to look normal: 3 wheels!” Instead of trending toward the bizarre, Better Place hopes to give its consumers “a better car.”
