Is Kate Winslet Hollywood's BoSox?

Leave it to the savvy folks over at EW.com's PopWatch Blog to start our morning off by linking two of our favorite things: six-time Academy Award nominee Kate Winslet and our own Boston Red Sox. The PopWatchers asked readers if it might be better for Winslet not to win an Oscar for her Best Actress-nominated role in The Reader on Sunday, as her story will be less interesting once she finally has that statue in her hand.

We all gave you the heads up last month when we told you about Boston’s first ever Winter Restaurant Week. So whether or not you made your reservations ahead of time like we told you to, Bostonist did go ahead and make some dinner plans this week. We headed over to Fleming's Steak House on Stuart Street. Yes, we realize that Fleming’s is a national chain and while we are all about supporting the locally-run joint, Bostonist had one amazing meal for a pretty amazing price. For the standard Restaurant Week dinner price of $30.06, we walked away Sunday night in a food induced-coma all ready to watch the Academy Awards.

Bostonist is not going to "live blog" the Academy Awards like some of our counterparts. They may sit down to lunch everyday next to movie stars and other pop culture icons that roam their streets. We've got Danny Aiello in the North End filming his next movie, Ben Affleck every now and again back here in the Hub (visiting his Mom is what we've been told-he secretly keeps a pad in southie too) and a handful of Val Kilmer sightings on the Green Line.

In case you blocked out the hoopla known as the Oscars, the 77th Academy Awards aired last night for a short three hours and two minutes long. Held at L.A.'s Kodak Theater, the awards show went off without a hitch or much sparkle, creating a predictable show with few surprises.
