The Globe reported that the Metro was shrinking, and Joe Keohane at Boston Daily noted that the Globe got details wrong. Then the Metro trumped that little blunder by reporting that the Globe was planning "hundreds" of layoffs and would raise the price of the paper to 75 cents. The Globe told the Herald that's not so. Meanwhile, the Herald stands by, endlessly amused, not the least because the Globe and the Metro are......

Update: Adam Reilly takes a close look at the words Moss chose to describe the situation, along with a past incident in which Moss pushed a traffic control officer half a block with his car while he was in Minnesota. Earlier today, the Sports Redux mentioned a story spotted at Sports by Brooks noting that a Randy Moss had been served with a restraining order in Florida. However, it was unclear whether or not the......

When it comes to the battle of Boston's daily papers, we didn't think that the Metro was in trouble. Sure, the daily papers aren't meaty, but they help while wile away the time on a subway ride. Boston NOW has also had some problems with getting the little things right, such as an unfortunate boo-boo on its front page after the New Hampshire primaries. But the Metro's parent company wants to sell Metro Boston. That......

Former Massachusetts governor and political aspirant Mitt Romney faces one of his greatest challenges with the New Hampshire primary. After coming in second in Iowa to the Mike Huckabee/Chuck Norris ticket, he is an underdog in a race that should have been a breeze for him since he governed in Massachusetts. Even though Massachusetts wasn't exactly thrilled with him when he left, he was still a familiar name and could have scored votes on that......

Enza Sambataro may not be a household name, but she inspires a passionate response from baseball fans. She's about to marry the beloved Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis. The Globe recently ran a light lifestyle piece about how Sambataro won't be the ordinary baseball wife. She dated Ben Affleck, she jokes about Yooooouk drinking too many margaritas, and she has a shoplifting record, around which the article danced delicately. Adam Reilly at the Phoenix detected......

Michele McPhee, Boston's queen bee of crime reporting, is jumping from the Herald to a full-time slot at WTKK. Boston Daily landed the scoop confirming what two of Boston's most reliable mediawatchers, Dan Kennedy of Media Nation and Adam Reilly of the Phoenix, heard. From Joe Keohane at Boston Daily: "Sources close to McPhee confirm this, and add that she’s taken a full-time gig at WTKK-FM and ditched daily journalism altogether." What will the Herald......

Sophie Currier, the Harvard Medical School student who sued for extra time to take an exam because she is currently breast-feeding, will have to wait a little longer to take that exam. Although judge Gary Katzmann gave Currier extra break time to handle her business, the Crimson reports that the Massachusetts appeals court has "temporarily voided" Katzmann's ruling because of an appeal from the National Board of Medical Examiners. The judges are supposed to make......

A post appeared on Universal Hub earlier today saying that Editor Michael Brodeur was out at the Weekly Dig. A Phoenix post backs that up, and Dig founder and president Jeff Lawrence sent out a press release. Here's the text of the release: Boston's Weekly Dig announced today that the editor, Michael Brodeur, is no longer with the company as part of an editorial restructuring, “Michael has been a huge part of the Dig for......

Pat Purcell, publisher of the Herald, has sold the Herald building and its land in the South End to a development group of which he is a part. Obviously the money-making potential of the paper pales in comparison to high-rent apartments and office space. The Globe labels Purcell's move as an "effort to transform Herald assets into cash and to streamline the tabloid's operations." If we translate that phrase, it might mean that Purcell is......

The Bruins pounded the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2 last night. Not only are the Bruins winning consistently, but they are getting closer to a playoff spot. A few weeks ago, this would have been inconceivable, but the Bruins continue to surprise. It's looking like Marco Sturm is close to re-signing, and Patrice Bergeron seems to be recovering from his injury. After a series of spankings, the Celtics played the LA Lakers last night, 122 to......
