Aerosmith will return to the performing saddle much sooner than expected thanks to a court order stemming from a lawsuit over a canceled tour date in 2007 in Maui. The settlement requires the band to perform two shows in the Aloha State, October 18 and 20, that are required to be consistent with a typical Aerosmith gig. Someone named Brandee Faria said "They know they can't come out and do a 30-minute gig...because I'll be there watching." Ms. Faria was a councilor for the suit, and not a music critic. At RollingStone.com, where they know more about concerts than Ms. Faria, Joe Perry confirmed that Aerosmith will be back despite rumors of turmoil within the band following Steven Tyler's fall and resulting tour-date cancellations.

Aerosmith Redux: Turmoil or Rockers Being Rockers?

You saw the YouTube video of Steven Tyler, right? No, not the video of his shoulder-cracking fall. The video of him shopping at Pembroke Center Liquors and looking like a frail elderly woman. The fall at Sturgis earlier this month, and his physical appearance, is causing concern about the 61-year old rocker to a degree that the rest of Aerosmith is united against Tyler in a passive-aggressive fued that screams rock star, at least that's what the nameless sources allegedly connected to the band tell the Herald's Inside Track.

Joe Perry and Steven Tyler may or may not ever become political activists. But one song they made famous as Aerosmith doesn't appear, at least for now, to be acceptable fodder for political shenanigans. Republicans enlisted the Aerosmith classic "Back in the Saddle" as part of an anti–stimulus plan video released on YouTube. The GOP apparently posted the ad before getting permission, then removed it once the copyright owner complained. The ad was stopped and the stimulus became law on Tuesday. Looks like somebody's back in the saddle again—but not the GOP.

HarperCollins imprint Ecco has landed Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler's autobiography for over $2 million. Keith Richards, by contrast, got $7 mil from Little, Brown for his own autobio. None of this should be construed to mean that the rock stars will do any actual writing.

steventyler.jpgNo, Steven Tyler--don't walk that way! HubArts reports that Boston's favorite big-lipped rocker has entered Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena. Las Encinas is where Dr. Drew (from Loveline!) practices, and where Celebrity Rehab (with Dr. Drew, natch) is filmed. Could this mean that Tyler has chosen the celebreality path? We hope the answer is "dream on."
