Bostonist was blissfully ignoring the ongoing White House crashing Salahi family squabble that is getting Journey back in the headlines. Now, there is a Steven Tyler connection and we can't ignore that. TMZ got its hands on a photo of Michaela Salahi and Aerosmith's frontman, circa 2006, from backstage at a concert in Bristow, Virginia. She went with soon-to-be ex Tareq Salahi and managed to get backstage with the band for about an hour. She returned with a picture of her with Tyler and "an all-access backstage pass for ALL Aerosmith concerts!" She said she and Tyler were simply comparing flat stomachs.

Look for a new Aerosmith album in May of 2012, says producer Jack Douglas, according to Ultimate-Guitar.com. He described the album as "raw, nasty, tough rock."ostonist can't wait for new tunes from the boys, but those classic records never get old. You can get them on iTunes. Tyler and Carrie Underwood also belted out "Walk This Way" in April's Country Music Awards show and now Lady Antebellum covered "Sweet Emotion" at a show in Syracuse last Friday.
President Obama and family arrive in Martha’s Vineyard for a well deserved vacation later today. Yes, deserved. Congress has a five week break and Obama can't get a 10-day break from D.C.? He'll be able to govern just fine. He's also not the first president to take heat for vacationing.

Steven Tyler might make good TV as an “American Idol” judge, just don't expect Joe Perry to watch it. Perry sounded underwhelmed, at best, at the idea of Tyler joining Idol during an Aerosmith tour.
Aerosmith's current "Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock!" U.S. tour won't be affected by Steven Tyler's new job as a judge on "American Idol." According to TMZ, nobody connected to the band has confirmed Tyler's AI gig. The celebrity gossip blog said that a "rep for the band" said Tyler will complete the tour with his Hub crew. The tour runs through September, and includes a visit to Fenway Park. If you have tickets for that event, you won't miss a thing. [TMZ.com]
First, Steven Tyler fell and Aerosmith almost fell apart. Now it's Joe Perry's turn. A retired grandmother (isn't there a law about, umm, mature drivers?)crashed into Perry and his stalled Ducati motorcycle in Middleboro yeterday. Buy American, next time. Joe's fine, and already home with a sore back, according to his people. The granny, who is fine, did get cited in the accident. She reportedly didn't recognize Perry. He reportedly didn't get all I'm-Joe-Perry on the driver or any of the responders. If you've got tickets for the August 14 show at Fenway, that show is unaffected by the crash. [Herald]
Steven Tyler is talking about his downward spiral that was 2009 as Aerosmith readies for its 2010 U.S Tour by touring Europe and South and Central America. While 2009 was about Steven being Steven, 2010 is about the band. Or, as Tyler says, "Everyone’s got their problems and their demons, but when we get onstage and play as five, that really all goes away, and that’s really all I look at now."

Boston's favorite AARP rockers continue to generate headlines to confirm their status as music icons. As Steven Tyler's fall-induced hiatus has Aerosmith in limbo, Perry and the boys are reportedly looking for a new singer. If Sammy Hagar really did say no to Tyler's gig, could the search turn to a woman?
With news percolating recently about Aerosmith possibly replacing all-everything frontman Steven Tyler as he deals with his ever present demons, it's no surprise his name popped up in the news. When your musical cohort of 40 years says "We're gonna find somebody to get in there and fill that spot," which Joe Perry reportedly said and is actually doing, it essentially requires a response. But, Tyler responded by serenading the Rancho Mirage, California Home Depot over the loudspeaker. Tyler supposedly treated the "audience" to some classic Aerosmith tunes, and even "performed" after inhaling helium to sound like a Chipmunk. Tyler also sang karaoke at a Palm Springs, California pub. It's either going to make a trashtastic reality show, or a crappy video.

Aerosmith will return to the performing saddle much sooner than expected thanks to a court order stemming from a lawsuit over a canceled tour date in 2007 in Maui. The settlement requires the band to perform two shows in the Aloha State, October 18 and 20, that are required to be consistent with a typical Aerosmith gig. Someone named Brandee Faria said "They know they can't come out and do a 30-minute gig...because I'll be there watching." Ms. Faria was a councilor for the suit, and not a music critic. At RollingStone.com, where they know more about concerts than Ms. Faria, Joe Perry confirmed that Aerosmith will be back despite rumors of turmoil within the band following Steven Tyler's fall and resulting tour-date cancellations.
