Well, the MBTA strikes again. While Dan Grabauskas drove home in the comfort of his air-conditioned SUV yesterday, Mattapan commuters were sweating it up in their new "air-conditioned" trolley. The T had proudly trumpeted yesterday afternoon's debut of A/C on the Mattapan line's 60-year-old trolley cars, which had to be retro-fitted with air conditioning systems. However, the Globe reports today that the A/C was far from functional. An inverter failed, rendering the new units ineffective.
