Juliette and the Licks Scissors for Lefty, Suffrajett Middle East Downstairs Tonight, 8 p.m., $15 (18+) MySpace She's a J. Lewis making a name for herself in music after an acting career, the frontwoman of an otherwise all-male band, someone known for keeping audiences guessing about how she's going to look, what she's going to wear, what she's going to do. But whereas Rilo Kiley's Jenny Lewis takes the demure route (as much as one......

There's much to be said about the Underworld show at the Bank of America Pavilion, but imagine this: after a long day of indecisive weather, an autumn climate sets in and is warded off at the show mainly because of the many bodies inside the high, white tent of the venue. It was starting to get a bit cold, but putting on a hoodie was unnecessary. The body wasn't cooling down...it was getting chills.......

Underworld will be performing at Bank of America Pavilion tonight. Doors are at 6:30 pm, and the show is at 7:30 pm. With John Digweed, DJ Dave Ralph. Last night Bostonist was out at the Middlesex Lounge listening to local DJs spin some of the best minimal and house that's out right now. Though the room was dimly lit and the atmosphere was very chill, the spectrum of sobriety went from stone cold to completely......

There's no good reason to be sitting at home carving pumpkins this week with all the good shows happening around the Hub. Take a moment to put down your $3 carving kit and your pumpkin to sing the pumpkin carving song as you head out to catch some live music. Oh, and if you wear your costume we won't tell. Tuesday, 10/24 Project Move with Elemental Zazen Local hip hop heroes Project Move and......

The temperature heats up a little this week. There will be a bit more humidity in the air. But unlike last week we're not going to be engaged in the same mad-dash around the city every night to catch all the good music. This week we can take our pick, settle in with a pint, and catch the good tunes at a single venue. Fantastic line-ups mark this weeks picks. From the opening band......

Now that we're on this eight days a week kick for doing these picks it seems like it might be time for a new graphic. We'll give you a cookie if you design us a new one. Or maybe a Newcastle next time you catch us at the Middle East. Promise. Monday 8/7 The Roots with Talib Kweli It may not be a Brooklyn block party hosted by Dave Chappelle, but it will be......

Last year Bloc Party headlined at the Paradise – this year it was the Bank of America Pavilion. What the hell happened? Did they release something new? Nope. Then what? Oh… MTV2 happened. OK, fair enough. They now have a large enough audience to (sort of) fill the Pavilion, but do they have a large enough set list? Objectively, no, not really. Bloc Party released its first (and so far, only) album, Silent Alarm, over......

Eight Days a Week. The music scene is hot, and we realize that we're not giving you enough lead time on some of the best way to cure a case of the Mondays – with a Monday evening show. This week we're putting eight days into our weekly music picks. Starting on Monday and running through the following week. This week we're eating locally – and listening locally. Several local acts find prominence on......

Just like Christmas in July with all the stuff we're giving away today. It's important to catch good live acts when you can, and great if you can get to them while they're here. Next week Muse plays the Pavilion with The Cloud Room opening. Muse released their new album, Black Holes and Revelations only two weeks ago in the states and it's been charting high ever since. We've nabbed a sweet T, copy......

Apparently we're supposed to go to work this week. It's the first full week in July. We're not counting last week – there was enough time spent on various roof decks that it can't be called anything but lazy. This week the grind is back, but the music isn't taking a break. An eclectic mix make up this week's picks from indie rock to Elvis Costello to the Boston Typewriter Orchestra, they're not playing......

The second part is all-internets-all-the-time. Two great guilty pleasures, Jewel and Rob Thomas, are playing a show at the Bank of America Pavilion on Friday night, June 9. Toby Lightman will open the show for the two pop superstars. Rob Thomas and Jewel share something in......

Time to hit the gym. Time to work off the 19 hot dogs and 12 hamburgers ingested over the last four days. Well, maybe the gym isn't going to do it. Throw down a couple of bucks this week and dance, sweat, and otherwise work off that weight as you listen to some great tunes – played live – around Boston this week. Tuesday 5/30 Lifestyle with What Time is It Mr. Fox, and The......

The season finale has just aired for your favorite TV show. NBC hasn't run Must See TV on Thursdays for a decade. The sun is shining and temperatures will be perfect for showing up jacketless to the next performance. Something to do every night this week – and rock it out for free with the pop tunes from WBOS' EarthFest line up on Saturday, starting at noon. All this and we're tivo-ing the Sox/Yanks games......

There is only so long that we’re going to be able to hold out before the entire list of the week’s picks will be outdoor venues. Well, that’ll probably never happen until they dome the roof at Paradise and we can rock under the stars. We are, however, ecstatic about the warmer temperatures and the daylight which stretches until late – it helps us gear up for the night’s show. After a weekend of......

Bostonist gave a little squeal of "Oh no she didn't!" when Natalie Portman's odious Sam, in last year's more odious Garden State, cites Lyle Lovett as an ugly dude who bagged a hottie with his 1993 marriage to Julia Roberts. (PS. Boston-area media: stop citing Portman-who really inspires awful copy from drooling men-as a celeb Boston can be proud of. Just because she went through 4 years at Harvard meant that some hard-working kid......
