Someone has really had it with the snow. An Abington man who was making bombs he intended to use to blow up snow banks has been charged with threatening to commit a crime and possession of incendiary devices. Police and fire officials recovered ammunition and "powders" from his last known address. Abington Police Chief David Majenski said police found "military-grade ammunition and other stuff." A 37-year old Norwell woman faces her third drunk driving offense after being arrested on Saturday. Police stopped her and reported she smelled of alcohol, wasn't wearing pants and had her four-month-old baby in the car. Police recovered multiple containers of alcohol from the car. A passenger on American Airlines Flight 2585 that left Boston's Logan Airrport around 8:30 a.m. was arrested at Miami International Airport at about 11:30 a.m. and charged with carrying explosive materials after his luggage exploded on the tarmac. The FBI took the unnamed 37-year-old man into custody and said the luggage "contained primer material used in making ammunition." This is not considered an act of terrorism. Noone was injured. -- Three Somerville men were arrested after assaulting a victim with machetes and a slingshot. The alleged attackers reportedly used MS-13 gang signals. One attacker allegedly told the victim "I’m going to kill you with one shot.” With a slingshot. --For some reason, 32-year-old Keni Garcia of Haverhill allegedly wanted 85,000 bullets. The ATF, ICE and state and local authorities seem to think this was a bad idea. Who knew? Essex County prosecutors are charging Garcia, who was scheduled to become an American citizen today, with illegal possession of ammunition, three counts of possession of a high-capacity firearm, and illegal storage of a firearm. Investigators found 10,000 rounds in his car, 20,000 rounds at his house. He allegedly tried to buy 55,000 more rounds in New Hampshire.[Boston Globe, Boston Herald] more ›
