Saint Isidore of Seville is the patron saint of the internet. Bostonist had no idea there was a patron saint of the internet until we read about the recent relocation of the Boston College IT center to a former seminary. Sixteen stained glass windows depicting saints are still visible in the new IT center, one of which shows Saint Isidore. The renovated facility was formerly St. Clement's Hall and was purchased from the Archdiocese of Boston when they started to liquidate some of their properties in 2004. Boston College has renovated the Brighton building to have state of the art ventilation, insulation, and alarms in order to protect the backbone of BC computing. The patron saint of the internet? Perhaps a divine coincidence. Ars Technica points out that Isidore was a noted great scholar who created the twenty-volume Etymologies which they equate to the Wikipedia of the sixth century. From the Telegraph they quote:

it was lifted from sources almost entirely at second or third hand (the Romans had been writing encyclopedias since the 2nd century BC), none of it checked, and much of it [was] unconditional eyewash—the internet, in other words, to a T.
Wikipedia bashing, Catholic saints, that system of tubes, and Boston College all in one post? Yeah, we never thought the day would come. Please submit your comments via the Post Rapture Post to insure we receive it.
