And good for them! Last night's trash fire at the Park Street MBTA station caused the usual delays and annoyance, but some passengers became so dangerously overheated when their train got stuck on the Longfellow Bridge that they broke out, using the emergency handles. The Globe noted that the passengers' actions were "unauthorized," but what were they going to do, bake in there like Toll House cookies in an oven? Lolita at Boston Faces, Boston......

--Bad sound at the Iron & Wine show launched a debate about bum acoustics in most Boston venues. The Country Club Owner Murder-Suicide that emerged yesterday really is turning into a TV movie of the week. Neighbors are suggesting that financial problems......

A horrible incident occurred on the commuter rail system yesterday afternoon when a train slammed into a work crew replacing railroad ties in Woburn. According to the Globe report, two workers died, and one was critically injured. The crew and the train were on a collision course: MBTA officials said investigators are trying to determine why a track switching device was improperly positioned. The switch should have directed the commuter train on a track......

Apparently there's not a cosmic law dictating that buses are allowed to have only one brush with disaster per week. Yesterday, an MBTA bus with over 40 passengers caught fire. One rider told WHDH news that the incident started with a bang at the back of the bus: "It sounded like a huge gunshot. We initially thought it was just a blowout of the tire." (Given the Fung Wah loose-wheel episode, that's hardly surprising.)......
