Almost three weeks ago, Bostonist read about Ted Williams' head's starring role in the Alcor T-Ball Invitational. Still not over that. The Kid is in the news again, sort of, in a story that, while still negative, lacks that utter depravity of a man's severed head being hit with a wrench. A Canadian baseball card collector says a rare 1954 Ted Williams card was taken from his room in a New York hotel in October. The unidentified collector reportedly paid $5,500 for the card, which was one of a series of 20 issued by the Wilson Franks hot dog company. With the baseball card industry quickly vanishing, it's noteworthy that somehow would even try to steal one. more ›
