James "Whitey" Bulger was held without bail today at federal court in Boston. William "Billy" Bulger waved at his brother Whitey Bulger in court. Court authorities are working to determine if Bulger and Catherine Greig can afford an attorney. Bulger said he could if the court gave him his money back. The latest news from Bulger's arrest includes a link to Iceland. The tip that led to the arrests reportedly came from a person in Iceland who saw a news report about the new TV ads designed to catch Bulger. Is there anything better than cheap ice cream? Tonight from 5-10 p.m. Baskin-Robbins is selling a 2.5 ounce scoop of ice cream for just $0.31. It's for a good cause, too. Baskin-Robbins is using the fifth annual 31 Cent Scoop Night to honor local firefighters. The company will donate $100,000 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, the company said. Unofficial surveys have found that, relative to other regions of the country, New Englanders disproportionately hate the tomato. Some unnamed tomato experts conjecture this culinary aversion may exist because many folks in this region have never tasted a tomato as they are meant to be. In this area's short growing season, many New Englanders only sample tomatoes that have been refrigerated. This cooling process crystalizes the sugars in the tomato, and severely compromises the flavorful bursts that once were. Tomatoes taste best when they've never been kept below 60 degrees, and fresh off the vine.
