Bostonist trekked down to the enemyland for our first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this Thursday. From free Pringles to feral children to freaking giant balloons, the experience was more fun and less stressful than expected. New balloons included the Pillsbury Doughboy, Sailor Mickey, Ronald McDonald (on ice skates!) and a revamped Spider-Man. Different incarnations of Mickey, Ronald, and Spidey have appeared over the years, so only Poppin' Fresh was completely new to the parade. Much like biscuits on the Thanksgiving table, he was a welcome addition to the madness. Also new this year was the parade route: it literally went "off-Broadway," coming straight down 7th Avenue instead of using the traditional diagonal street.
