oston-bred comedians Bill Burr and Robert Kelly teamed up with fellow comedian and friend Joe DeRosa to make their own self-produced short film, Cheat, which premiered at last week's prestigious 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. Boston-bred comedian Bill Burr gave us another incredible video tour of Los Angeles! This time it's the Hollywood Hills and Hollywood Boulevard. Bill Burr is coming back to Boston this week for a series of shows at the Wilbur Theatre. We understand that tickets for his two Friday night shows are scarce but that there's still room at his Thursday night engagement - since he's doing only one show on Thursday (May 6th) night, he won't be holding anything back for later so that's our recommended show.
A couple months ago we did this little Fenway Park piece with Boston-based comedian Ira Proctor.
Bill Burr will be the first comedian to perform on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" tonight! Burr, who hails from Boston and who cut his teeth on the local comedy scene will be the first to bring stand-up comedy to Conan's new set after a variety of musical performers have performed on the first week of the relaunch of "The Tonight Show".
Today marks the first post by Boston-bred comedian Bill Burr for the NHL's Boston Bruins. We've talked to Bill many times and he even took Bostonist on a video tour of Hollywood back in January. In between his stand-up schedule, Burr has managed to do a weekly podcast for years and has now been picked by the Bruins as their celebrity blogger. Burr is a dedicated Boston sports fan, and an even more dedicated Bruins fan so we commend them on their choice as blogger where he will be contributing at least weekly through the playoffs and, we hope, beyond.
Bill Burr's excellent live show "Why Do I Do This?" makes it's TV debut on August 31st, Comedy Central at 11:00pm. Burr, born in Canton, MA, got his start in Boston by stepping onstage during a contest for "Funniest College Student" and hasn't looked back. You've had many opportunities to get familiar with Burr over the past 15 years, what with appearances on "Chappelle's Show", HBO's "One Night Stand", "The Late Show With David Letterman", his CD "Emotionally Unavailable", The Opie and Anthony Show, and his own XM Radio show, "Uninformed". Not that Burr held anything back in his previous specials but this is one that shouldn't be missed. His bits on overpopulation, homophobia, Hollywood portrayals of racism, and the insane internal dialogues we all have, set a comedic bar on those topics that will be hard to surpass for quite some time. LAist had a chance to speak with Burr as he prepares for a tour supporting a new set of material, good news for all the fans that Sunday's special will create.
