Matt Viser at the Globe did a report today on how a few South Boston residents are hogging parking spots with chairs, trash barrels, and whatever is laying around. The city of Boston explicitly states that a person can save his or her spot for 48 hours after a storm. After that, it becomes hogging. more ›

This time, it's personal. Sean Linehan, the son of brand-new City Council member Bill Linehan, has told police he was the victim of random violence. He said that, after a late-night meal at Teriyaki House following his dad's victory party, he "accidentally walked into a brawl on the sidewalk." --Several shootings happened last night in Dorchester and Roxbury. An unidentified man was killed and 27-year-old Sabrina Smith was shot in the leg at about 5:15 pm in Dorchester, and about 30 minutes later, 20-year-old Jerome Wells was killed in Roxbury. Police apprehended two suspects in the Wells slaying because an officer was there to witness the incident. At first, Bill Linehan looked like an underdog to us since his opponent, Susan Passoni, won all the endorsements. However, he won the race last night, 53 percent to 46 percent.
