A workshop production of Factory Girls, presented by Boston Conservatory Theater Ensemble is set for the Burgoyne Theater at Lowell High School from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5, and the Boston Conservatory Theater from Friday, June 9 to Sunday, June 12. The Boston Conservatory's String Masters series features violist Hsin Yun-Huang, viola, and pianist Yi-Fang Huang on Sunday at 5 p.m. at The Boston Conservatory’s Seully Hall at 8 The Fenway. The program includes works from Beethoven, Hall Overton, Elliot Carter, and Sergei Prokofiev. Both Hsin-Yun Huang and Yi-Fang Huang are from Taiwan and studied at the Juilliard School. Can the newly restored Paramount rock? Well, Deerhoof will try to find out when play there on Sunday, October 10 at 7:30 p.m. Deerhoof formed in San Francisco in 1994 and now is signed with Kill Rock Stars. The band includes Satomi Matsuzaki, John Dieterich, Ed Rodriguez and Greg Saunier, and they're working on a new record. Stephen Sondheim's musical of marriages haunted by flashbacks and vaudeville nightmares has been the recipient of Tony awards and an object of cult affection. In Mozart's delightfully farcical opera Così fan tutte, everyone is culpable. The title—roughly, "They're all like that"—refers to the fickleness of Woman, the hypothetical Fiordiligi and Dorabella in particular (sung by Leah Sapko and Kristina Reagle in Thursday's performance) but their fiancés Ferrando and Guglielmo (David Vogel and Jonathan Nussman) likewise prove themselves to be utter cads in the course of their very complicated attempt to prove the sisters' fidelity. more ›
