Bostonist was on the phone with our buddy Keith on Thursday, chatting about the upcoming Boston Pops spring season. The initial season announcement had just crossed our desk at Bostonist HQ, and we wanted to see what Keith thought of a spring and summer that will include jazz, Broadway, a season-long tribute to Leonard Bernstein, and appearances by Natalie Cole, Natalie Merchant, and Amanda Palmer. more ›

WGA Strike Support Rally Friday, December 14, 12:00 pm-3:00 pm Harvard Square Fans4writers.com Update: Bradley's Almanac just gave us a heads-up--the WGA East announced "Please RSVP to 212-767-7843 and leave the number of people in your party" if you plan to attend the event at the church. By now, we're all sick of the writers' strike, and Bostonist HQ is suffering from MCRW (Major Colbert Report Withdrawal). Rest assured, the writers are even sicker of... more ›

Usually, Bostonist HQ obsesses over Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, and Randy Moss tends to fly under the radar. Ever since he joined the Pats, the infamous fake-mooner seems to have settled down a bit. However, Moss recently said something with hilarious connotations that he probably did not intend. Moss is feeling a little tuckered out lately, and he told the press: "Hopefully, coach (Bill Belichick) can let up on us a little bit and... more ›

8:00 PM - We're coming to you live! Not from Bostonist HQ, which is in the danger zone of potential postgame revelry, but from our outpost in Central MA (Worcesterist?) where we've been each week to watch the Pats game. The Pats, by the way, just beat Washington 845-7. Mike Vrabel caught eleven touchdown passes. FoxSports is showing Bill Buckner one last time, just in case there was one person left in town who didn't... more ›

Bostonist had been holding out with the hopes that tickets to tonight's game would magically fall out of the sky, but we're finally accepting the fact that that's not going to happen. What to do? Live Blog, of course! We here at Bostonist HQ are going to be online and posting about the game in real time tonight, beginning around 8 p.m. We'll be offering up our running commentary and we encourage you to join... more ›

Outside.in has been tracking local blog action for 3,500 neighborhoods in 60 cities across the country. They came out with the top ten blogging neighborhoods back in April. Newton and Watertown made that list (4 and 7, respectively.) Today Chris Reidy at the Globe posts up an item that Outside.in has named Boston the Bloggiest City in the nation. During March and April the Boston area chalked up 89 posts per 100,000 people (we're trying... more ›

Bostonist can't quite believe that it's been 15 years since our fair city got itself a rockstar symphony conductor. We remember well when the Keith Craze first sent music fans into a tizzy - the swooning, the squeals, the questions about what the young Keith Lockhart was going to do to the Boston Pops. And here it is, a decade and a half later and Bostonist still under KLo's spell. We've sighed at the sight... more ›

The Boston Globe Magazine this week featured a number of photographs that the editors had picked as some of the best of the year. Then they told the back story. But it wasn’t the photos in that feature that caught our eye. Boston's new police commissioner was featured on page six in a striking and attractive photograph for a short "First Person" interview of 9 questions. We couldn't help but think there was something... more ›

It's nearing November, getting further away from the past September 1st move-in day. By now you're either kicking yourself for choosing the place you're in or loving what you've got. Maybe you kicked on the heat for the chilly overnights and wonder how you're going to be able to afford heat and your monthly rent. Or better yet – you're wondering how you got such a good deal and you're just waiting for your... more ›

The collegiate population may deem Thursdays "Thirsty Thursdays", but as a majority of them have departed our fine city for internships in New York, jobs back home, or foreign lands - we here at Bostonist HQ have come to view Thursday as dance night. As such, here is a brief rundown of just a few of your Thursday night options. Bostonist favorites, Next Generation Productions, are holding it down at their usual Thursday night... more ›

Cosmetic surgery shouldn’t be an option for persons under the age of eighteen. Here at Bostonist HQ we think the rules are different for the web. It's a brand new year. We're fast approaching our one-year birthday (and just passed the anniversary of the informal meet-and-greet with Mr. Dobkin). In order to get our kicks in ought-six we took to the knife and trimmed and tucked a few things. A change at the top of... more ›

Bostonist doesn’t have a lot of details on the incident this evening, but it appears that Mama Snoop’s (or Ms. Dogg for those of you infatuated with the formality) presence in the Hub to form an anti-gang group didn’t have the immediate effects she had hoped. Making changes like this do take time, so we’re still hopeful. However, tonight in Dorchester, one of Boston’s Hot Spots for violent crime, three homicides were recorded. Three people... more ›
