Did you know that there's another Dave from Somerville on reality television this season? Well, somewhat. This Somerville Dave left Massachusetts for Los Angeles, made his fortune in sex toys at sextoy.com (find it yourself), started wearing a semi-faux-hawk, and installed a stripper pole in his home. Sextoy Dave made an appearance on Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker, in which a woman runs a business for millionaires to meet his ideal lover. (She swears it isn't an......

Now THIS is what I'm talking about people!! AprilM2107's amazing photo "Cast from the Sea" is replete with the qualities of a great shot. The point of view and framing are clearly amazing, while the deep texture and saturated sepia tones give the shot a slightly sad and lugubrious tone. To me, this is what photography is all about - taking a common object and making it so much more - making it art.......

By now you've probably noticed that we're tracking Tommy Grella's progress in The Next Food Network Star because we're still annoyed that Boston wasn't represented in Top Chef (you hear us, Bravo?). And we like the fact that Grella breaks the "Boston tough guy" reality-TV character. Despite the ever-present cigar and Mafioso style that had one judge yelp, "You almost looked pissed off at us!" Tommy Grella is a tremendous teddy bear. This week's episode......

It was only a matter of time. Our favorite local celebrity in trouble, Bobby Brown, got picked up today on an arrest warrant in Attleboro. He was nabbed for not paying child support - yet again. His own attorney said he's having trouble making the child support payments. Couldn't he just call up Bravo and sign on for another season? Or is the umpteenth season of VH1's the Surreal Life hiring? He must really not......

Not feeling up for First Nighting? Unable to get to New York City to watch the ball drop in person? As usual, the TV networks are more than willing to provide you with the kind of entertainment that will drive you to drink. Here's the lineup: WGBH 2 (PBS): Garrison Keillor's New Year's Eve Special. 10 pm. This one's for those of you who are feeling civilized. WBZ 4 (CBS): Local First Night Special. The......

Every once in a while a webcast comes around that Bostonist just adores. Of course, we want to share this adoration and what better way to accomplish this than to drop a review on the intertubes for your consumption? This week we review a 'cast that is produced by the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: The Concert. Let us get the geekery out of the way. The folks over at the Gardner have done something great......

Got $8 bucks in your pocket and a bus transfer that will get you to Allston? Great, see you there. Tonight New York City rockers Bravo Silva play a value added show with local boys The Debutantes (formed right here in Allston in '02) and Oakland's The Cuts and The Time Flys. Call them all hipsters, call them all stoners, doesn't matter what you call them as long as you're listening - the music rocks.......

Bostonist has always been honest about its reality-TV obsession, but when we heard about the newest one this week, we were a bit skeptical. One of the original boy bands of the 1980s, New Edition, hailed from Boston and included Roxbury boy Bobby Brown. In the days before he was arrested for drugs, not paying child support, and even a Disney World brawl, Brown was pretty famous in Maurice Starr's New Edition and then branched......

A few weeks ago, a story that Kevin Millar was going to be made over by the Fab 5 from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" surfaced and now it appears to have been true...and he's not alone in wanting to get in touch with his feminine side. The Bravo show arrived in Florida today to begin their transformation of six of the World Champion Idiots of Fenway Park. Millar has been joined by fellow......

News last week is that the Big Dig was getting closer to completion, albeit a little leaky. The fourth lane will be added to the Zakim Bridge, a new tunnel configuration will be implemented, and the southbound Congress street onramp will be opened. The Rose Kennedy park in the North End will also begin construction as soon as the weather permits. Transportation and civic projects are one thing, but the makeovers that Bostonist is following......
