The Savant Project has an unwieldy name for a bistro, and, riding the 39 bus on our way to Brigham Circle, Bostonist kept thinking of idiots. But the name sticks with you, as does the interior of the place, once you've gotten a glimpse. Small, in the way urban restaurants have to be, it had a scattering of tables in the front, under the glow of gold tin walls. The bar lay just past the......

Movies Catch a sneak preview of In Bruges, starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. The movie, which screened at Sundance, follows two hit men who are forced to vacation in the tourist hotspot. CNN dared to call the film "Tarantino-esque." Whether or not "Tarantino-esque" fits, the trailer is full of some sharp one-liners. Director Martin McDonagh will be there. Brattle Theatre, 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:00, and getting there early is recommended. Check out......

Snow emergencies have been declared in Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville. Here's the dirt on parking and getting around: --T alerts: This should come as no surprise, but all T lines are experiencing delays of 30 minutes or more. The MBTA website has been blinking in and out, but we did get an alert that the Silver Line Routes 742 (SL2) and 743 (SL3) are being diverted and that all buses are "omitting 88 Black......

If you see something, say something! Especially if it's a middle-aged man with white hair and a long beige coat packing a newspaper and an exposed pee-pee. For the past several months, a man fitting the above description above has been getting grabby and flashy with high school students on the Green "E" Line between Brigham Circle and Government Center. Oh, man -- skeee-eee-eeeve. If you have any info about the Green Line Groper......

--Police caught a bike thief who got his mitts on the wrong bicycle. The thief stole a cute retro bike from the lobby of an apartment building in Mission Hill a few months ago. The owner did a little detective work on craigslist – where the perp put the bike up for sale! Police set up an old-school sting. The owner arranged a meeting with the seller at a Stop & Shop parking lot in......

There are a couple of spring events we've gotten used to. Free iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts or a scoop from Ben and Jerry's make their appearance in March and April, respectively, about a month apart. This year JP Licks joins the crew of freebie days. May 17, 2007 will be the first free coffee day at all 7 of their locations. They're hoping to prove how awesome their coffee is by giving it away......

This morning the house still smelled like bacon. A two-for-one deal at the supermarket made brunch abound with bacon Sunday morning. Mmmmm…bacon. The deliciously fatty pork product is the reason that we couldn’t keep up a vegetarian diet or have we ever thought of becoming kosher. Today we’re hearing reports all over the place that bacon may be healthy for the first time since the Atkins Diet fell out of favor. omega-3 fatty acids have......

For those tomato fans out there that were appalled at the mealy, overpriced produce at the chain supermarkets this past winter, you can relax. The farmers' markets are now in full swing in the city and you can buy all the fresh produce, herbs, and baked goods your little cooking heart desires. Bostonist was able to hit up the Copley Square Farmers' Market last Friday, where eight stands had set up, selling everything from basil......
